The Vancouver Canucks are running it back with Derek Forbort.

The team signed the defenceman to a one-year, $2 million contract, they announced on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old has played one season with the Canucks after joining the organization as a free agent in 2024. In 54 regular-season games, he had two goals and 11 points while averaging 17:06 of ice time.

“Bringing Derek back for another season is an important move for our group,” general manager Patrik Allvin said in a statement released by the team. “His strong defensive play and solid work on the penalty kill really helped solidify our back end this past year.”

The Duluth, Minn. native has suited up for 550 career NHL games, with 19 goals and 106 points in that time.
