Do you think poor fighter pay is ruining the reputation of the UFC?

I was watching one of Cannonier's interviews and he mentioned how he was broke and therefore, forced to fight. He was one of the top ranked middleweights at the time. With bonuses still at $50k, fighters being 'independent contractors' and most unranked fighters being forced to work second jobs to stay afloat, isn't this a bad look for the UFC? The UFC is the premier mma organisation in the world, I guess comparable with the NBA, NFL etc. Does hearing about all the financial hardship actually encourage anyone to go into the UFC? I get that keeping costs low helps them boost their profits but it just makes the company look stingy and pathetic. Surely the amount of people willing to risk injuries and CTE for 12k/12k contracts are dwindling fast. Elite level athletes will just be going to other sports. submitted by /u/Open_Address_2805 [link] [comments]
