Frederik Andersen‘s Eastern Conference Final Game 2 ended early.
The Carolina Hurricanes goalie was pulled for the third period in favour of Pyotr Kochetkov after he allowed four goals on 16 shots.
The Danish netminder allowed the first goal just over a minute into the game, then allowed two more on the power play before the end of the first period.
He seemed to stabilize in the middle frame, but his Hurricanes failed to give him any offensive support. He allowed a goal to Sam Bennett — his second of the contest — with 39 seconds remaining in the second period.
Andersen had been solid for the Hurricanes heading into this series, posting just one sub-.900 save percentage in nine playoff games. He struggled in Game 1, however, and allowed five goals on 20 shots for a .750 save percentage, and exited Thursday’s game with the same .750 save percentage.
Kochetkov has appeared in two games this post-season, with one win and a .900 save percentage.
