The New York Islanders can check a couple of items off their summer work list.

The team re-signed forward Kyle Palmieri and defenceman Adam Boqvist to contracts, it announced on Friday.

Palmieri agreed to a two-year deal that Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported has a $4.75 million AAV. Boqvist signed a one-year deal that is worth $800,000, according to Friedman.

Both deals were agreed upon before the team hired Mathieu Darche as general manager, Friedman reported.

Palmieri, 34, had 24 goals and 24 assists in 82 games for the Islanders this season, his fourth full season with the club.

The Islanders acquired Palmieri in a trade with the New Jersey Devils in April 2021.

Over 900 career games with the Islanders, Devils and Anaheim Ducks, the American forward has recorded 527 points (270 goals, 257 assists).

Meanwhile, Boqvist, 24, had four goals and 10 assists in 35 NHL games last season with the Islanders after he was picked up off waivers from the Florida Panthers in January.

In six career seasons with the Islanders, Panthers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Chicago Blackhawks, the Sweden native has 99 points (27 goals and 72 assists) in 244 games.

The Blackhawks picked the London Knights product eighth overall in the 2018 NHL Draft.
