The Tampa Bay Lightning are keeping Yanni Gourde around long term.

Tampa Bay announced Monday that it has re-signed the 33-year-old forward to a six-year deal, which carries an annual average value of $2.33 million.

Gourde was re-acquired by the Lightning at this year’s trade deadline as part of a three-team trade with the Detroit Red Wings and Seattle Kraken. The left-shot centre spent the first six seasons of his career with the Lightning, winning back-to-back Stanley Cups with the franchise in 2020 and 2021.

He departed for Seattle after being selected in the 2021 Expansion Draft and spent parts of four seasons with the Kraken before being dealt back to the Lightning in March.

Over 57 games this season, Gourde scored seven goals and 31 points. He added an assist in Tampa Bay’s five-game first-round loss to the Florida Panthers.

The Saint-Narcisse, Que., native has logged over 600 career NHL games since making his debut in 2015-16. His career high in points came during his first full year with the Lightning, as he tallied 25 goals and 39 assists while skating in all 82 games.

Gourde originally signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
