Dmitri Simashev is making the move to North America.

The defenceman has signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Utah Mammoth, the NHL club announced Wednesday.

Simashev, 20, was picked sixth overall by the Arizona Coyotes (now Utah) in the 2023 NHL Draft.

The six-foot-five Russian has played for the past two seasons with the KHL’s Yaroslavl Lokomotiv, helping the club win the league title this season.

Simashev had one goal and five assists in 56 regular-season games this year before notching one assist in 21 playoff games.

“We are thrilled to sign Dmitri to an NHL contract,” said Utah GM Bill Armstrong. “Dmitri has established himself as one of the top defenseman prospects in the NHL and we look forward to watching him play for the Mammoth for many years to come.”
