Red Sox call up top prospect Roman Anthony ahead of series with Rays
The move came just days after Roman Anthony hit a wild 497-foot grand slam with the team's Triple-A affiliate.
It was only a matter of time before the Boston Red Sox finally made the call to Roman Anthony.
The Red Sox called up Anthony, who is perhaps the best prospect in the sport, on Monday, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The 21-year-old outfielder is expected to join the Red Sox on Monday, when they’ll kick off a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays. It’s unclear when Anthony will make his official debut, though he confirmed the news on Monday afternoon.

The move to bring Anthony up came just days after he hit a massive home run with their Triple-A affiliate. Anthony hit a go-ahead grand slam with the Worcester Red Sox on Friday that traveled 497 feet — which is longer than any home run hit in major league baseball this season.
