The Seattle Kraken are putting pen to paper on one of their promising young blue-liners.

The Kraken have signed defenceman Kaden Hammell to a three-year, entry-level contract worth $908,333 AAV, the team announced Sunday.

“Kaden took another positive step in his development this year,” Kraken general manager Jason Botterill said in a statement from the team. “He was a leader on the Silvertips and elevated his game in the playoffs. We’re excited to have him under contract for the next three years.”

The 20-year-old had a solid season with the Everett Silvertips, picking up 38 points (10 goals, 28 assists) in 59 regular-season games while adding 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 13 post-season games.

Hammell, a native of Langley, B.C., was selected by the Kraken in the fifth round, 148th overall, at the 2023 NHL Draft.
