Corey Perry delivered on some jaw-dropping late heroics in Friday night’s showcase, as the veteran forward found the back of the net to tie the high-scoring game up at 4-4 and send the game to overtime with only seventeen seconds to spare.
It came with the Oilers’ net empty. Perry skated to the middle of the Panthers’ zone, a loose puck fell to him after a rebound and he made lemonade out of lemons, slotting the puck through traffic to beat Sergei Bobrovsky blocker side.
The clutch goal actually broke a record, as the 40-year-old former Cup winner netted the latest game-tying goal in Stanley Cup Final history, breaking the previous record set by Tod Sloan of the Toronto Maple Leafs way back in 1951.
Here are some of the best reactions from around the hockey world after another strong dose of drama at an electric Cup Final.
